Allison Lipp Art — Commission Guide (2025)
Thank you for your interest in a commissioned artwork! My goal is to create a piece that fits beautifully in your home while staying true to my artistic voice and process. Commissioning a piece should feel easy, collaborative, and fun — here’s how it works.
1. Choosing Your Piece
I work in modern abstract styles with a focus on color, shape, and movement. To help me understand your vision, I’ll ask for:
- A few pieces of mine you love
- A general color palette (liked colors + any “no” colors)
- A photo of the room or wall where you imagine it (optional)
2. Medium & Materials
Canvas: Acrylic paint (optional: oil stick) on stretched canvas:
Piece will come stretched on wooden bars (I generally use Artist Loft Level 3 Gallery Wrapped heavy duty canvases). Piece will not be framed, but a floating canvas frame is highly recommended for ultimate display!
Please inquire about original paper series.
3. Pricing Menu
These are my standard commission prices by size. Prices good through end of January, 2026.
Size (Inches) |
Price (without tax) |
Shipping Estimate |
| 16 x 20 x 1.5 | $140 | $20 |
| 24 x 36 x 1.5 | $250 | $150 |
| 36 x 36 x 1.5 | $300 | $200 |
| 36 x 48 x 0.75 | $450 | $250 |
Please inquire about other sizes. Local pickup encouraged to avoid shipping costs. Prices do not include tax - those will be calculated at checkout, along with exact shipping costs.
4. Deposit & Payment
To begin the piece: 25% deposit (non-refundable: Venmo, cash, or check) to reserve the commission. Remaining 75% due only if you love the finished piece. If the artwork isn’t quite right, no pressure — I keep the piece and the deposit covers materials and time.
Note: custom sizes may require a 50% up-front deposit owing to increased cost of labor and materials.
5. Creative Process & Check-Ins
To keep it fun and boundaried:
- 1 palette/inspiration conversation
- 1 optional mid-process photo update
- 1 small final tweak if desired
My goal is a piece that reflects your home and my artistic voice — not a hyper-specific blueprint.
6. Timeline
Typical timeline is 4-6 weeks, plus extra for shipping. I’ll share a personalized estimate at project start.
7. Rights & Usage
You own the physical artwork. I retain rights to:
- Photograph the piece
- Use it in my portfolio
- Create prints/reproductions
Exclusive rights are available for an additional fee.
8. Marketing Support (Optional but Appreciated!)
In exchange for the discounted rate, I ask for one or more of the following:
- A photo of the piece in your home
- A brief review on Etsy
- Permission to talk about the sale on Instagram (I won’t name you)
This helps me grow as an emerging artist — thank you.
9. Energy & Expectations
My commissions are intentionally low-stakes and enjoyable. Your job is simply to share your vision and react honestly; my job is to bring it to life in a way that feels like my work and enhances your home. If the finished piece isn’t for you, the deposit ensures you don’t feel obligated.
10. Pickup & Shipping
For local pickup:
Buyer arranges pickup from my residence (Congress Park neighborhood in Denver, CO) within 2 weeks of piece being completed.
For shipping:
I will share a shipping cost and timeline estimate at project start. Please allow 1-3 weeks for shipping, as I may need to order custom shipping supplies based on the size of your project.
